SHELL, LAND & SEA is a collection of contemporary beach paintings by New Zealand artist Amiria Gale. Designed with the students who study her shell paintings in mind, this book contains clear images of process work: photographs, composition sketches and paintings in progress. Some of these images are unavailable elsewhere and are showcased exclusively within this book.
A compact book, SHELL, LAND & SEA has been designed to be easily carried by students and referred to quickly within a classroom situation.

If you would like to purchase this book, it can be shipped promptly to most destinations in the world. Well protected with high quality packaging, this was one of the most exciting parcels I have opened in a long time!

Showcasing my shell paintings, the print quality of Blurb books is excellent! Colours are true; the paper is thick; the images are clear. Despite being notoriously picky about print quality, I am absolutely delighted with it!

This page shows two compositional studies that lead to the larger finished beach painting on the right. Image quality and binding is excellent!

A close up shot of a page... you can see the clarity of the image and the rich true-to-life colours. Yay!

Hey Amiria,
This book seems very interesting, and so do your works!! I love your use of swirly lines and blue tones… The inclusion of the sketches is appreciated… Is this the same manner in which A level art students are suppose to work? Including sketches and compositional studies in the sketchbook and bigger works on the A1 sheets?? I’ve been trying to perfect my sketches in the sketchbook – should they really be all that perfect?? – and have only made a few bigger works…
I’ve bookmarked this page, and will definitely embed the slideshow on my blog!! Love it! And the book itself looks awesome – the binding and picture quality too…Like u’ve mentioned, bad print quality can be very very annoying and frustrating!
Great to find out that blurb allows people to make and order such books!! Its a great tool to be used!!
Thanks SJ, I’m glad you like it.
– I definitely recommend having a play with Blurb – it is so much fun!
A Level students often produce similar composition sketches to mine within their sketchbooks, but there are many acceptable ways of working, so there is not one specific way in which they are supposed to work. But it can be a good strategy.
Thank you for sharing the link to my book
